Els radiadors, els escalfadors de panells elèctrics i els escalfadors de convecció funcionen tot creant un corrent de convecció en una habitació. A mesura que l’aire calent puja, gira cap a l’altre costat de l’habitació, es refreda i s’enfonsa i torna pel terra fins a l’escalfador per tornar-lo a escalfar.
Tancar les portes assegura que aquest corrent es mantingui dins de l’espai designat.
